Welcome to the NCH Healthcare System Internal Medicine Residency website. Our program was developed in concert with our academic partner, the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Both, the Mayo Clinic and the University of Central Florida support our efforts toward individual mentoring and guidance of young medical graduates as they progress to expert doctors of Internal Medicine.
With 12 residents in each PGY class, we are now at our program complement of 36 residents and 3 Chief Medical Residents. All necessary resources are available to assure residents are successful, including; both MKSAP and NEJM Knowledge Plus, individual mentors and advisors, procedure and scenario based simulation training, intensive cardiac and medicine critical care, access to all available medical literature and the UCF Medical Library, mentored delivery of Medicine Grand Rounds in the third year, protected time for a 50 week in-house board review course as a PGY 3, support for attendance at conferences for both attendance and presentation, membership in the ACP and Collier County Medical Society, the ability to serve on important hospital committees, involvement in preventative medicine, an affiliation with the Blue Zones project, and our attention to resident wellness and work life balance. Our faculty is now over 70 educators and increasing. We offer expertise and guidance in virtually every area of medical education.
Residents are an active part in the continued development and refining of our program curriculum. We solicit feedback and respect resident opinions. From your very first day, you too will be an educator. Third and fourth year medical students, your fellow residents and attendings will all work as a team, delivering patient centered care based upon a model of patient shared decision-making.
I am very pleased to offer you the opportunity to explore our residency program, located in a resource filled community hospital in spectacular setting in Southwest Florida as we continue our transition to a top internal medicine training program.
